Akamai completes its Linode acquisition

Linode's compute services become part of Akamai following completion of the announced deal.

Akamai Cloud (Linode) →

Akamai has completed its acquisition of Linode, following the agreement announced in February. The deal brings Linode’s developer-oriented cloud compute services into a company already known for delivery and security.

For cloud customers, the useful distinction remains the product being purchased: a compute instance, a storage service and a CDN each do a different job.

What to watch

  • How the compute catalogue develops under Akamai.
  • Which regions support the required services.
  • How application hosting connects to delivery and security products.

Completion of the acquisition does not by itself describe a change to every existing customer’s contract or deployment. The Akamai Cloud profile keeps the Linode connection visible so readers can find the current service without treating it as an unrelated new provider.
