Alibaba Cloud has introduced Function Compute 3.0 in its developer-community announcement. The service remains an event-driven managed compute platform, with changes to function configuration, execution and integration.
Functions become the main configuration unit, with versions and aliases attached directly to a function. The update also changes runtime behavior and introduces tiered pricing.

The announcement includes sizeable provider-reported savings and performance claims. The practical decision is whether the new execution model fits the workload; a headline discount should not be applied to every deployment without checking the relevant pricing rules.
