Azure Container Apps becomes generally available

Managed container deployment offers scaling without operating a Kubernetes cluster directly.

Microsoft Azure →

Microsoft has made Azure Container Apps generally available. The service runs Linux containers and manages the underlying infrastructure, providing an alternative to maintaining a Kubernetes cluster for an application.

Container Apps supports event-driven scaling, including scale to zero, and integrates Dapr and KEDA. The GA release also adds capabilities such as custom domains, virtual-network integration and managed identities.

What to compare

  • Whether the application can run within the supported container environment.
  • How minimum replicas and background work affect the bill.
  • Which networking and identity connections the application needs.

This puts a managed deployment option beside Azure’s virtual machines and Kubernetes services. The right choice depends on the controls the team needs and the amount of platform work it wants to retain.
