Google has announced general availability for Cloud Run and Cloud Run for Anthos. The fully managed offering runs stateless HTTP-driven containers without requiring customers to operate the underlying infrastructure.
The announcement brings production support and integration with Google Cloud’s logging, monitoring and deployment tooling. The Anthos option targets teams running the service within their own managed Kubernetes environment.
What it means for a project
- Container applications gain a managed deployment route.
- Teams can focus on code while still choosing networking, permissions and connected data services.
- An application’s request pattern and resource settings remain important to cost.
The two deployment routes have different operational responsibilities. A container image is a useful packaging boundary, but moving it does not automatically move the databases or other services it depends on.
