Heroku has outlined the capabilities of Fir, its next platform generation, with general availability due later in April.
The announcement highlights Cloud Native Buildpacks, which produce standard OCI container images, and integrated OpenTelemetry for application observability.
Before moving an application

- Plan how application data and operational settings will move.
A new generation does not imply that every existing app should migrate immediately or that both generations behave identically. Heroku’s release information and migration guidance are the useful starting points for deciding whether Fir fits an existing workload.
