Microsoft has announced a naming change for several business Office subscriptions, effective April 21.
Office 365 Business Essentials becomes Microsoft 365 Business Basic, while Office 365 Business Premium becomes Microsoft 365 Business Standard. The existing Microsoft 365 Business plan becomes Microsoft 365 Business Premium.
Match names to features
The announcement says these particular changes are to product names, without a price or feature change at that time. The similar names make it important to compare the actual included applications and administration features.
Microsoft 365 remains a finished-software subscription. It should be compared with team-productivity services such as Google Workspace, rather than treated as another name for Azure application hosting.
