MongoDB introduces the Atlas Flex tier

Flex targets variable workloads with a more predictable, bounded pricing arrangement.

MongoDB Atlas →

MongoDB has introduced Atlas Flex, combining parts of its shared and serverless offerings into a new tier for variable workloads.

The announcement positions Flex as an option for smaller applications and development environments that need elasticity without an entirely open-ended usage bill.

Check the tier boundaries

  • Included storage and operation capacity.
  • Supported features compared with dedicated clusters.
  • The behavior of the application during traffic peaks.

A lower-cost tier is useful only when the workload fits its limits. Teams should compare the supported features and performance envelope before replacing an existing cluster, and use current tier documentation rather than assuming the launch configuration applies to every later plan.
