OVHcloud has launched its first three-availability-zone region in Paris. The region gives customers a way to distribute eligible public-cloud workloads across separate zones within one region.
The launch introduces a different resilience option from a deployment relying on a single zone.
Design around the zones
- Check which products are available in the 3-AZ region.
- Spread application instances and data deliberately.
- Include zone-aware networking and recovery in the budget.
Three availability zones do not automatically make an application resilient. The workload still needs a design that can tolerate a zone failure, including the databases, storage and routing it depends on. The announcement is a useful starting point for teams evaluating a European multi-zone deployment.
