Contentful has announced that it has signed an agreement to be acquired by Salesforce.
The company describes the next stage as a way to expand its content-platform work within Salesforce’s wider business-software offering. Contentful’s API-first approach remains the product’s defining role: content is managed separately from the frontend that presents it.
What to follow
The announcement is an agreement, so completion of the transaction is a separate milestone. It also does not establish an automatic change to every customer’s plan or frontend integration.
Teams using Contentful should continue to evaluate the actual content model, delivery APIs and commercial terms. The provider profiles link the related companies without treating CRM and headless content management as identical products.
