Vultr Kubernetes Engine reaches general availability

VKE adds managed Kubernetes clusters across Vultr's launch footprint.

Vultr →

Vultr has made Kubernetes Engine generally available. The announcement lists 24 launch locations and adds a managed cluster option beside Vultr’s virtual machines.

Customers choose a Kubernetes version, location and node pools, while Vultr operates the managed service. The launch also introduces a block-storage HDD option for clusters and VMs.

Costs beyond the control plane

A managed Kubernetes service can reduce cluster administration, but worker nodes, disks and application traffic still use billable resources. Teams should price the required node pools and storage rather than looking only at the control-plane offer.

Kubernetes is useful when its deployment model and tooling fit the application. A simpler app-hosting platform can still be a better match for a small service that does not need cluster-level controls.
