Where it fits
IBM Cloud offers infrastructure and managed platforms for enterprise applications. Virtual servers provide the server-level route, while managed Kubernetes, OpenShift and Code Engine handle different application environments. Code Engine is useful for running containers or batch jobs without operating the underlying cluster.
How pricing works
The budget follows the services selected, including compute capacity, storage, networking and database usage. Enterprise support and contracted arrangements can change the commercial setup. A serverless application and an always-running cluster should be priced as different architectures.
Choosing a setup
IBM Cloud is relevant to teams already using IBM or Red Hat tooling and to projects comparing managed container platforms. Hybrid-cloud support is a capability to evaluate for the actual deployment, rather than a reason to assume every workload moves unchanged.
