Where it fits

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, usually called OCI, offers infrastructure and managed platforms. Compute shapes include virtual machines and bare metal, with different processor families. Its database catalogue makes it a relevant option for applications already built around Oracle technology, as well as other cloud workloads.

How pricing works

Capacity, storage, database licensing and outbound traffic belong in separate budget lines. Free allowances and trial credits have eligibility and availability limits. A free-tier configuration is not a promise that production capacity will always be available in a chosen region.

Choosing a setup

The practical choice is between operating instances, using managed containers, or buying a managed database service. Arm-based compute also needs an application and container-image compatibility check before it replaces an x86 deployment.
