Where it fits

Railway groups application services, databases and deployment environments into projects. It provides a managed route from code or a container image to a running service. Templates simplify the initial setup, but the application still needs its own security, data and recovery configuration.

How pricing works

Plans include a minimum subscription or usage amount, with resource consumption determining additional cost. CPU, memory, volumes and network traffic need to be considered together. A database template creates a service; it should not be assumed to include every managed-database operational guarantee.

Choosing a setup

Railway suits teams wanting a quick multi-service deployment workflow without assembling a VM stack. For a stateful application, understand volume backups and restore behaviour before treating a simple deployment as a complete production setup.
