Where it fits
Wasabi deserves evaluation for stable datasets that stay in place and are read at a moderate rate. Think about the lifecycle of individual objects, not just how long you keep the account open. A bucket that always contains the same amount of data can still replace every object each week.
That distinction makes backup rotation important. A long-lived repository that updates a small fraction of its contents behaves differently from repeatedly uploading and deleting a full snapshot. Measure churn before relying on a headline capacity rate.
What the model includes
The July 2026 Pay-Go price notice sets the rate at $7.99 per TB-month across commercial regions. Wasabi uses binary billing units, and its FAQ derives the rate by dividing the TB charge by 1,024 GB. The model uses that conversion, applies the 1 TiB monthly minimum, and withholds a complete total for retention below 90 days.
Deleted objects can continue creating storage charges until the minimum duration is met. A useful full model would need their sizes and ages; the calculator does not invent these. Even zero active bytes can leave a paid account subject to a minimum or historical deletion charges.
Egress is conditional
The published policy describes workloads with monthly egress no greater than active storage as a fit. Repeatedly exceeding the guideline can lead to restrictions. The calculator therefore refuses an estimate above that ratio; it does not fabricate an overage price or suggest that unlimited public distribution is included.
Requests are also subject to reasonable-use terms. A high-operation workload needs its own confirmation even if its byte ratio looks ordinary. Pricing alone is not a service approval.
A practical evaluation
Ask your backup client to show object creation and expiration behavior. Do a full restore and record how it changes the month’s outbound traffic. Include replacement, compaction and cleanup cycles. Estimate what happens when two recoveries are needed in the same month, rather than evaluating only the successful steady state.
